Henkelman at their Dutch factory, develop, manufacture, and distribute approximately 15,000 machines a year worldwide, making Henkelman a world-renowned brand in the vacuum packaging world.

We genuinely believe that there is a vacuum packaging machine for every professional, for every demand, for every market and every application.
Throughout the buying process, our sales team will work with you to make sure you get the right machine for your needs. We understand that buying a vac packer can be an easy process, but it can also be a hard one if you don’t know what you need, but don’t worry! We are here to help.

We hold in stock a wide number of spare parts in our service department, that way, should you experience problems with your machine, we can service it without delay.

We cover the whole of the UK so, whether you are located deep in the Scottish Highlands or as far south as Cornwall, we can get a service engineer to you.

You will need to understand the product you are going to vac pack and what you are looking to get out of the vac packer.

  • Is it a liquid product? Fresh meat? Dry product or Non-food product.
  • Customer objectives: To extend the shelf life? Portion control? Product protection?
  • Daily production output?

1st Step: Once you know your product, you firstly need to find the ideal bag size for your product. No product is the same – 5kg of marinated chicken is different to 5kg of whole chickens so it would require a different bag size.
If you don’t know what bag size you’ll be needing, a quick way to estimating this is to place your product in a carrier bag and put it flat on a table, the flat footprint of the product in the bag should give you an idea of the bag dimension for your product. (Measure in mm)
We have a variety of sizes in stock that we can send out if you are struggling to find your ideal bag size.

If your product is solid, then measure the biggest sample of the product you have, the max width, length, and height of the product. (Measure in mm)

2nd Step: Once you have an idea of the bag size you will be needing, you then need to work out your intended production output and overall daily machine usage.
You need the right machine for the job, not the cheapest.

Intended daily usageProduction levelHenkelman Machines
LowSporadic vacuum cycles per day.High street butchers, low volume restaurant, low output Non-food production lines.Jumbo Series (tabletop)

Atmoz Series(Free standing & double chamber)Polar Series (Free standing & double chamber)Titaan Series (Automated series)

Depending on your production output, you will have a variety of choices to fit your budget.

Tabletop models are preferred by businesses who have little available space for new equipment, you can get a trolley for your tabletop machine.

3rd Step: This is the point to explore your options. You should have an idea of the bag size and intended daily usage (production output).
Our machines seal bar length ranges from 280mm seal bar length in the Mini Jumbo to 1100mm seal bar length in the Polar 2-95.

Scenario 1 – “You could have a product that is bagged in a 250x300mm bag but with only a need for packing 4 bags per day.”

Scenario 2 – “You could also have a product that is bagged in a 300x300mm bag but a desired production output of 300 bags per hour.”

Summary to figuring out what you need.

  1. Know your product
    1. Liquid or not
    2. Dense or not
    3. Malleable or solid
    4. Temperature of the product before vacuum cycle
  2. Know the bag you will be needing
    1. Product dimension
    2. Product characteristics
    3. Specific requirements
  3. Know the production output you want to have, to work out the intended daily usage
    1. How many bags per day?
    2. How many cycles per day?

Facts to note when vacuum packing fresh products??

Liquid and Wet products

The internal temperature in the chamber increases while under vacuum, to the point where it can boil the product. To avoid this – the optimum product recommended temperature is between 2-4 degrees Celsius.

For wet and liquid products such as soup or products that will not be at the optimal temperature, we recommend a Henkelman machine with the H2O Liquid control sensor.
“Wet and liquid products quickly reach their boiling point during the vacuum packaging cycle. Reducing the pressure in the chamber below atmospheric pressure causes fluids to boil at room temperature and cooks products when cold.
The Liquid control sensor detects the evaporation of the liquid product. The machine then stops extracting the air and proceeds automatically with the next phase, the sealing of the vacuum bag”

Soft Air Function for sharp products

After the bag has been sealed, the air returns into the chamber. As soon as the atmospheric pressure inside equals the pressure outside the chamber, the lid opens. With Soft Air, this occurs gradually, so the vacuum bag gently envelopes the product. For optimal protection of product and bag. Particularly suitable for products with sharp edges.

Protection of both product and vacuum bag

Gas Flushing

Prior to the seal phase, a gas or nitrogen can be added. Henkelman vacuum packaging machines can be equipped with the option Gas flush or Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP).
Injecting a gas increases the product’s shelf life, it offers extra protection, and it prevents the product from colouring. Usually, a mixture of nitrogen (N2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) is used. Dioxygen (O2) can also be added to this combination. The use of argon (Ar) has been increasing, as this contains the same properties as nitrogen (N2).

Gas flush is available on all series, except Jumbo and Titaan.

Depending on the make and model of your current machine, we can value it and take it in as a trade-in for a new machine.

If you wish to do so, at the start of your enquiry, please send us 3-4 pictures of your machine, full front, tag with make and model, any problems, or broken parts.

We only sell Henkelman refurbished machines that are in near-new condition such as ex-demonstration machines, machines that have been used as short-term hire and machines that have a full-service history with Windsor Food Machinery.

All our refurb machines have been through the workshop for a full breakdown and inspection, had a full service and are finally inspected and tested.

Our refurb machines come with a 3-month Parts & Labour warranty.

Decontamination phase – All our refurb machines go through a thorough decontamination process where every part of the machine is cleaned with high pressure water and steam to ensure no contaminants are left in the chamber, housing, and pump.

A vacuum packaging machine has become a common asset in several non-food sectors, especially in electronical, mechanical, medical, and financial industries. The choice for the appropriate model depends on the type of product, its size and other characteristics.

DS (Double Seal) – Standard seal system with two 3.5mm convex wires that ensures no residue gets trapped and pressed out from between the foils of the bag during the seal process and decreases the risk of leakage.
1-2 Cut Off – The Cut-off seal consists of one 3.5 mm convex seal wire and one 1.1 mm round cutting wire to easily tear off the residual plastic.

Bi-active seal – With products that require a specified bag, you should look at getting the Bi-active seal option. Bi-active seal is used when vacuum sealing aluminium or thicker bags. This seal system has seal bars on both the inside of the lid and on the front of the vacuum chambers, so the vacuum bag is being sealed from both sides of the bag.

ESD – ESD is the abbreviation of Electrostatic Discharge. When this occurs during the vacuum packaging cycle, it can cause damage to the product. Therefore, Henkelman has developed the option ESD technology for the Boxer 42XL, Falcon 52 and Falcon 80. It is often used to vacuum pack electrical components, such as wafers, chips, motherboards, and prints.

We hold stock of most Henkelman models. For machines that aren’t in stock, we can order then from the manufacturer, with an average lead time of 3-4 weeks.

Next day delivery is available if payment is received and confirmed by 1pm the day before.
